In a competitive matchup on April 11, 2025, the South Burlington High School Boys Tennis team fell to Essex High School by a score of 6–1 in a Chittenden County showdown at Essex, marking a tough start to the season for the Wolfpack. Spencer Higgins delivered South Burlington's lone win, battling back from a set down to edge Essex's Omar Khan 2–6, 6–4, 10–8 at third singles. In the other singles matches, Essex's Derin Suren defeated Yuyang Zhang 6–4, 6–3, Vishnu Konnanur defeated Peter Lyon 6–3, 6–0, Eli Conti defeated Jimmy Jia 6–3, 6–2, and Jeremy Chen defeated Ayush Kyasa 7–5, 6–0. In doubles, Essex's Donovan Ho and Lewis Pilcher defeated Patrick Sauve and Evan Xia 6–3, 6–1, while Henry Farrell and Deven Shedd defeated Henry Polifka-Rivas and Cody Eagle 6–1, 6–0. This early season result gives the South Burlington squad clear incentive to fine-tune its doubles strategy and sharpen singles play as they build toward the larger goal of postseason contention.
