South Burlington's boys cross-country team returned to Missisquoi Valley Union in Swanton, where they captured the NVAC title a year ago, for the 2026 NVAC Metro Championship. The Wolves raced to a second-place finish in the Large School Boys 5K with 58 points, behind champion Burlington (30) and ahead of Essex (66), Champlain Valley Union (94), and Colchester (114). South Burlington placed three runners in the top ten: junior Jack Donovan led the way in 17:29.9 for 5th overall, sophomore Jack Henry followed in 17:43.4 for 7th, and freshman Briar Parlante continued his impressive first season with a 9th-place finish in 17:50.0. Junior Joe Jackson (18:39.3, 17th) and sophomore Dave Lawrence, who broke into the scoring five with a personal best of 18:46.9 (20th), completed the scoring, while sophomore Hayden Nahstoll (19:04.8, also a personal best) and junior Asher Clifford (19:36.5) rounded out the top seven. Personal bests ran deep through the roster, with Killian Allen (21:17.6), Mason Soter (21:40.0), Vincent Cotto (21:41.3), and freshman Jack Trombly (23:13.0) all setting new marks, and Chase Gurtman (20:40.7) posting a season best. Freshmen Charlie Lockwood (21:55.8) and Roman Ober (23:09.2) also raced for the Wolves. Coming one week before the State Championship at Thetford, the meet showed both the team's front-running strength and its growing depth.
